Unfortunately, even though you can use business card templates to design your business cards at home or in your own office, that's where the home involvement should end. A lot of people try to actually print their cards at home. That doesn't work out well, usually, for two reasons.

The first problem is the ink. Home computers don't use high-quality ink. So, they don't yield high-quality cards.

The second problem is that the business card paper that most people use for home printing usually has to either be punched out or cut. First of all, that leaves edges on the cards that look uneven and unprofessional. Second, it can take forever to pop or cut all of those cards by hand. So, if you want to keep your cards professional, you have to work with a professional printing company.

Typically, it's better to select your printing company first and then use their templates to design your business cards. That way, you'll always know that your company is capable of reproducing the design that you created using your business card templates. That also means that the company may have suggestions for how to improve upon your designs and make them even more successful. So, be sure to coordinate with their design staff before you finalize the design for printing.
